Dr. Shawn Johnston was raised in Michigan, attending high school in Kingsford. He received his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Michigan and his Medical Doctorate from the University of Michigan Medical School. Dr. Johnston went on to complete his residency program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from the Mayo Clinic in 1999. He then moved to Alaska and began practicing as a specialty physician at Alaska Spine Institute. He is Board Certified in Pain Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. Dr. Johnston specializes in sports medicine, pain management, electrodiagnostic studies including EMG and nerve conduction studies as well as epidural and facet joint injections.
He lives with his wife and children in Anchorage and is a proud University of Michigan football fan. He enjoys sports, fishing and traveling with his family.
