Susan Klimow, MD

drkilmowSusan Klimow, M.D. is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as Pain Management. Other medical interests include acupuncture, electro-diagnostic testing and disability examinations.

Dr. Klimow was born and raised in Johnson City, NY. Completing a BA degree at Eisenhower College, Seneca Falls, NY, she went on to take courses at George Washington University, Washington D.C. and earned a MA degree in Women’s Studies in 1979. Dr. Klimow continued from there to complete her MD degree from Howard University College of Medicine, Washington D.C. in 1985. She then completed her residency in OBGYN at SUNY Upstate Medical Center. Dr. Klimow married during her last year of residency, resigned from SUNY residency program and moved to California to be with her husband.

In 1993 Dr. Klimow completed a residency through UCLA at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She and her husband moved to Alaska in 1993 where she worked as a physician for Rehabilitation Medicine and Associates. She happily joined AA Spine & Pain Clinic in 2005. Her practice at AA Spine & Pain Clinic focuses primarily on musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.

For many years Dr.Klimow served as the Medical Director of the Providence Hospital Rehabilitation Unit. Dr. Klimow has a particular interest in work related injuries, providing continuity in care, assessment and impairment ratings.

Dr. Klimow and her family enjoy water activities including boating, fishing, swimming, skiing, and exploring the wondrous Alaska coastline. They also enjoy bicycle riding, hiking and the many cultural events available in Anchorage.
