Leon “Joe” Chandler, M.D.

Dr.ChandlerDr. Leon “Joe” Chandler was born, bred, and educated in the mid west state of Indiana. He was raised on golf, fishing, quail hunting and dog training. His alma mater is Indiana University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree and earned a doctor’s degree in medicine. His anesthesia residency was done at Indiana University and Marion County General Hospital. He came up to Alaska via his childhood desire to fish and hunt in this great state and the United States Air Force. Although the air force brought Dr. Chandler to Alaska in 1970, it was the hunting, fishing and medical opportunities that have kept him in Anchorage, Alaska ever since. (read more - click on image)

SUSAN BERTRAND, M.D.

Dr.BertrandSusan Bertrand, M.D. joined A.A. Pain Clinic in 2005. Before coming to Anchorage to join A.A. Pain Clinic, Dr. Bertrand served as the Medical Director for the Chronic Pain Program at Missoula Community Medical Center in Missoula Montana and Southern Hills Regional Rehabilitation Hospital in southern West Virginia.

GARY L.CHILD, D.O.

Dr.ChildDr. Child has practiced family practice medicine in the Anchorage area since 1986. He joined A.A. Pain Clinic in 2004 to add an additional dimension to our pain management practice model by bringing a family medicine component to our practice. In 2007 Dr. Child was instrumental in starting our Northern Nights Sleep Clinic. (read more - click on image)

 


STEVE JOHNSOn, M.D
Dr.JohnsonDr. Steven Johnson is Board Certified in Family Practice in Canada, and in Anesthesia and Pain Management in the United States.  Dr. Johnson grew up in Montreal, Canada and went to McGill University in Montreal as an undergraduate majoring in Engineering and Pre Medicine.  McGill University was where he attended Medical School, as well. He left Montreal to do a Family Practice Residency at the University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada and was Board Certified in Family Practice there. (read more - click on image)

EUGENE J. Lian, M.D.

Dr.LianEugene Lian, M.D. completed his undergraduate education at Walla Walla College in Washington with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Health Science. He graduated from medical school at Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California. He always wanted to live in Alaska and took the opportunity of moving to Anchorage for his residency training at Alaska Family Medicine. He met Dr. Leon Chandler early in his residency and became interested in the management of chronic pain. He joined Dr. Chandler at A.A. Specialty Health Center/A.A. Pain Clinic in 2007. Sungmi Lian, M.D.

Dr.LianDr. Lian completed her undergraduate education at the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Molecular Cell Biology. She got her Doctorate of Medicine at Loma Linda University School of Medicine, California. She found a new home when she moved to Anchorage for her residency training at Alaska Family Medicine Residency. In 2007, after completing her residency training, she joined Dr. Chandler and A.A. SUSAN KILMOW , M.D.

Dr. KilmowSusan Klimow, M.D. is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as Pain Management. Other medical interests include acupuncture, electro-diagnostic testing and disability examinations.

In 1993 Dr Klimow completed a residency through UCLA at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She and her husband moved to Alaska in 1993. (read more - click on image)


Chris Anne McDonald, F.N.P

Dr.McDonaldChris Anne McDonald, F.N.P. began her nursing career in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A graduate of the University of Minnesota, holding a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and a Master of Science Degree in Family Practice Nursing (2002). She is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (F.N.P.) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
